8. Land of Snakes, Shetpal
Head to the Sholapur district located in Maharashtra state and visit the famous ‘Land of Snakes’. Located only a few hundred kilometers from a fairly large city of Pune, this small village practices one of the most peculiar traditions that involves the worshipping of snakes. And they seem to like it a lot! Each house in the village has a special places for snakes (cobras, mostly) to come, rest, and have a bowl of milk.
Surprisingly, there are no snakebites happening in this area. Snake is one of the symbols of Lord Shiva, so they move freely all over the village. Villagers feel so safe with local cobras, they even let their kids play with them!
