2. Venice, Italy
Widely-advertised and touristy, Venice is still one of the best places to go for a wedding journey. Apparently, the city is full of landmarks; its architectural style is rich and recognizable. But for a really unique experience forget about rush, pre-scheduled entertainment and leave great, overcrowded Piazza San Marco, the pompous Doges’ Palace, the Gallerie dell’Accademia, the Rialto Bridge and other famous tourist spots for less known areas.
The labyrinth of medieval alleyways and canals is what makes Venice so special. Getting lost in the maze of its narrow passages might be an unforgettable small adventure for a couple. And an evening gondola ride will be the icing on the cake.
The Queen of the Adriatic is beautiful all year round, but it might be too crowded in summer.
